In 2012, an employee of the State civil service, including ministries and public institutions, received an average net wage of 2,465 euros per full-time equivalent month. Between 2011 and 2012, the net wage increased by 1.2% in current euros. Taking into account inflation (+2.0% in 2012), net wages decreased by 0.8% in constant euros compared to 2011, whether beneficiaries of subsidised contracts are included or not. The average wage was driven slightly downwards by the decline in the number of office holders. For office holders as for other employees, the average wage fell by 0.7%. The median net wage was 2,259 euros per month in 2012. It was 8.4% lower than the average net wage and decreased by 1.1% in constant euros between 2011 and 2012. The average wage gap between men and women fell slightly: it reached 14.8% in 2012 compared to 15.0% in 2011. For people who had the same employer in 2011 and 2012 and an identical workload share, the average net wage remained stable in constant euros.
