First Names File
The first names database contains data on the first names given to children born in France since 1900 at national, regional and departmental levels.
Statistics on first names are compiled from civil status birth certificates for people born in mainland France and in the overseas departments and regions. These certificates, drawn up on the basis of parents’ declarations, are sent to INSEE by local civil registrars to feed into the National Register for the Identification of Natural Persons (RNIPP).
The data has been available since the June 2021 release.
