Objectifs :

The outdoor accommodation occupancy survey aims to analyse the occupancy of campsites in France, both in terms of volume and the structure of the clientele, including the geographical structure.

It also provides exhaustive knowledge of the stock (including classified campsites that do not offer any short-stay pitches) and of the occupancy of short-stay pitches only, intended for a tourist clientele, as opposed to pitches for yearly rental intended for more residential purposes.

This survey concerns the occupancy in the five summer months, from May to September: the stock is measured on 30 November of each year.It covers the following topics:

- Characteristics of the site

- Opening period

- Accommodation capacity (bare pitches and pitches with rental accommodation)

- Occupancy of pitches (bare and with rental accommodation)

- Monthly occupancy (in terms of the numbers of arrivals and nights) according to the type of pitch (bare and with rental accommodation) and the customers' normal country of residence.

The survey is carried out from May to September, by post.

Historique :

The survey has been in existence since 1981 and was updated in 2004.

In its present form, the survey differentiates between the occupancy of bare pitches and the occupancy of pitches equipped with lightweight accommodation (such as chalets, bungalows and mobile homes).

From the 2013 season, the survey is no longer exhaustive: it is carried out with a sample of 6,000 campsites from 7500

Autres spécifications :

A pitch that is considered to have rental accommodation is equipped with a bungalow, "Bungatent", mobile home, leisure home, etc.

Any pitches that may be reserved for campervans are considered to be bare pitches.
