Survey data from a sample of 80,000 business creators in the first half of 2018 (40,000 micro-entrepreneurs and 40,000 creators of "classic" businesses), interviewed three times: the year of creation, 3 years later and 5 years later. The questions concern the profile of the creators, the reasons for the creation, the aid received, the difficulties encountered, the type of activity, the evolution of the turnover, the evolution of employment.

• the profile of the creator and the conditions for the start-up of the enterprise;

• the development of the enterprise's activity, type of clientele, cooperation with other enterprises;

• investments and their form of financing;

• training and advice after start-up;

• the difficulties encountered by the enterprise;

• the enterprise's strategy;

• the conditions for its development.

The scope of the survey covers businesses created in the first half of 2018, with an effective date of creation in the Sirene register between January 1, 2018 and June 30, 2018, and that have been in existence for at least one month.

The economic coverage of the Sine programme matches the businesses' demographic scope: all market

activities, excluding agricultural activities.

Note : Until the 2002 set, the Sine system only covered the "ICS" scope (Industry, the building industry, Trade and Services).

The 2018 cohort of new firms is surveyed three times: at the end of 2018, at the end of 2021, and at the end of 2023. Firms are thus followed during the first five years of activity. The Sine system has been in existence since 1994 and tracks one out of every four generations of businesses created. Since 2010, the population of micro-entrepreneurs (auto-entrepreneurs until 2014) is also surveyed.
