Data collection is by post or internet, and  centralized collection at some enterprises (example ACCOR).

Local unit (of an enterprise)

The sampling frame is the file of tourism hotels managed by INSEE.
The stratification criteria for the national sample are:
- the geographical focus (regions, national tourist areas (ETNs))
- hotel category (1 to 5 stars or unclassified)
- type of hotel (chain or independent)
Within the strata, the draw is random.

The survey is conducted on a national sample of about 12,000 hotels from 18,000.
