This project contributes to the objective defined in the SMP-ESS-2024-ILC-SILC-IBA call document: supporting NSIs to implement new/amended variables in the EU-SILC data collection. Regarding the 2026 modules, the project includes questionnaire testing and the collection of certain variables from the modules on “Labour market and housing” (3-yearly module) and “Over-indebtedness, consumption, and wealth” (6-yearly module). This project covers only work related to questions collected for the first time since 2021.

Regarding the 2027 module on “Mental health and well-being”, the project encompasses the design, qualitative focus group testing and questionnaire development for variables from this module. Work related to collection of variables from the 2027 module is not covered by this project. The project is planned for a duration of 30 months and will enable:

  • Developing (IT) and testing the questionnaire of SILC 2026 with data collection tools1
  • Collecting 2026 SILC data, including 2026 modules
  • Making the 2026 SILC datasets with variables from the rolling modules available to users after data processing
  • Testing the questions from the 2027 ad hoc module through focus group qualitative testing
  • Developing (IT) the questionnaire, following conclusions from the focus group testing
  • Writing the final project report, which will be useful for designing other questionnaires on topics similar to those covered in the 2026 and 2027 SILC modules.
