Insee Focus2025 summer tourist season Attendance in collective touristic accommodations significantly increased

Gilles Valaison (Insee)

Attendance in collective tourist accommodation during the 2025 summer season exceeded 2023’s high levels, following a slight decline in 2024. All types of accommodation benefited from this increase, with hotels benefiting more than campsites. Summer attendance in 2025 benefited both from the return of resident customers, which had been declining since 2022, and from the ever-increasing presence of non-resident customers. The growth in non‑resident visitor numbers benefited all types of accommodation: European tourists boosted campsites attendance, while non-European visitors, particularly those from the United States, came in greater numbers in hotels. Attendance in coastline and mountain area accommodations were higher than in 2024, and the rise also extended to urban areas. The increase in accommodation turnover reflects both the growth in visitor numbers and the rise in prices in this sector.
