In Q4 2024, production costs in construction were almost stable over a quarter and
rose by 0.9% over a year Costs of production indices in construction - fourth quarter 2024
In Q4 2024, the production costs in construction were almost stable over a quarter (+0.1%), after +0.3% in the previous quarter. They were stable in building construction (after +0.2% in the previous quarter), the rise in labour costs (+0.8%, as in the previous quarter) being offset by a fall in materials costs, which continued to intensify (-0.7% after -0.4%), and the downturn in miscellaneous costs (-0.6% after +0.9%). Production costs were almost stable in civil engineering (-0.1% after +0.1%): energy costs rebounded strongly (+5.9% after -4.1%) and labour costs slowed down very slightly (+1.0% after +1.1%), while machinery costs fell back (-0.3% after +0.2%) and materials costs fell more sharply than in previous quarter (-1.9% after -0.5%). They slowed down in specialised construction works (+0.2% after +0.4%), due to the downturn in renovation materials costs (-0.3% after +0.2%).
Year on year, the production costs in construction rose at the same rate as in the previous quarter (+0.9%). They rose in building construction at the same rate as in the previous quarter (+0.7%), they were almost stable in civil engineering (-0.1% after +0.6%) and they accelerated very slightly in specialized construction works (+1.1% after +1.0%).
