At 96, the indicator that synthesizes it has lost two points and lies below its long-term average (100). This deterioration is mainly due to the decrease in the balances related to the general business outlook and to the past sales.

The balances related to the general business outlook and to the past sales have sharply retreated
In December 2024, the balance related to the general business outlook has sharply retreated and has reached its long-term average. The balance related to the past sales has sharply fallen anew and has moved away from its own. Conversely, the balance on the expected sales has increased a bit and has moved closer to its average. The one on the ordering intentions has slightly rebounded and has moved closer to its own.
The balances associated with the past and expected changes in the workforce size have diminished and have moved away from their long-term average.
The balance associated with the current level of stocks has increased for the third month in a row and has moved away from its average.
The balance on the expected selling prices has retreated and has moved below its long-term average.
Lastly, the balance on the felt economic uncertainty has increased sharply.

The balance associated with the general business outlook has retreated strongly in trade and repair of motor vehicles and has moved away from its long-term average, while it has retreated more slightly in retail trade (excluding motor vehicles) and has moved closer to its own.
The balances associated with the expected change in the workforce size have diminished sharply again in trade and repair of motor vehicles and to a lesser extent in retail trade (excluding motor vehicles). Both of them have moved away from their long-term average.
The balances associated with the past sales have diminished strongly in retail trade (excluding motor vehicles) and more moderately in trade and repair of motor vehicles, both of them moving away from their average. The balance on the expected sales has increased again in retail trade (excluding motor vehicles) and has moved above its average, while it has diminished again sharply in trade and repair of motor vehicles, where it has moved away from its own. In this sub-sector, the balance associated with the expected sales has reached a level unobserved since August 2022.
The balance of opinion on the expected prices has increased slightly in retail trade and has moved away from its average. Conversely, in trade and repair of motor vehicles, it has dropped strongly and has moved away form its own.
