In Q3 2023, production costs in construction rose by 0.4% Costs of production indices in construction - third quarter 2023
In Q3 2023, the production costs in construction rose by 0.4% over a quarter, after +0.1% in the previous quarter. They sped up in specialised construction works (+0.3% after +0.1%) and in civil engineering (+0.9% after +0.4%), driven by labour costs (+1.1% after +0.4%). They were unchanged in building construction (after +0.3%), the acceleration in labour costs being offset by the downturn of the cost of materials (-1.8 % after +0.1%).
Year on year, the production costs for construction slowed down for the fifth consecutive quarter (+1.8% in Q3 2023 after +2.8% in Q2 2023). They decelerated in building construction (+2.3% after +3.8% in Q2 2023 and +6.9% in Q1 2023) as in specialized construction works (+2.5% after +4.0% and +6.7%) and fell again in civil engineering (-1.2% after -2.4% and +3.8%).
