In November 2022, the total turnover in large-scale food retailing (including sales not in stores) fell back (-0.4%), following a slight growth in October (+0.2%). The in-store sales sped up for food products (+1.1% after +0.3%). They kept decreasing for non-food products (-0.2%), albeit much less markedly than in October (-3.8%). As for the sales of automotive fuel, the turnover dwindled in November (-4.2%), after the rebound in October (+3.8%).
The in-store sales turnover fell back in supermarkets (-0.8% after +2.1%), while it recovered in hypermarkets (+0.4% after -1.3% in October).
Downturn of large-scale food retailing turnover over a month (-0.4%)
In November 2022, the total turnover in large-scale food retailing (including sales not in stores) fell back (-0.4%), following a slight growth in October (+0.2%). Increase in turnover over a year (+5.8%)
Resulting mainly from price rises in food products and automotive fuel, the turnover of the past three months (September to November 2022) in large-scale food retailing increased by 5.8% compared to that of the same period one year earlier. The turnover grew sharply for food products (+7.3%), and fell slightly for non-food products (-0.5%). It increased significantly in the sales of automotive fuel (+5.8%).
Compared to that of the same period one year earlier, the sales from September to November 2022 increased both in supermarkets (+5.3%) and hypermarkets (+6.2%).
