All data are corrected for seasonal and working day effects (SA-WDA).

In August 2022, output in services recovered strongly over a month (+2.7%), following a decline in July (-1.2%).

Over a month, output increased in all sectors

In August 2022, output recovered sharply over one month in professional, scientific and technical activities (+2.4% after -2.0%), administrative and support service activities (+3.2% after -1.0%), transportation and storage (+3.5% after -1.9%), and more strongly in arts, entertainment and recreation (+5.0% after -0.6%). It also recovered, albeit to a lesser extent, in real estate activities (+1.8% after -2.8%) and accommodation and food service activities (+1.6% after -2.7%). Finally, it accelerated in information-communication (+2.2% after +1.4%).

Over a year, output was up sharply (+10.9%)

Output of the last three months (June to August 2022) was 10.9% significantly higher (+10.9%) than that of the same period a year earlier, in particular in the professional, scientific and technical activities (+9.4%). Due to the latest health restrictions maintained until June 2021 for certain cultural and food service activities, output was up even more sharply in arts, entertainment and recreation (+39.9%), and accommodation and food service activities (+17.3% with a particularly marked increase in accommodation: +28.6%). Output rose sharply in information-communication (+10.7%), administrative and support service activities (+9.2%) and transportation and storage (+9.3%). Growth was more moderate in real estate activities (+3.4%).

Revisions

Compared to the previous release, the month-on-month percentage change in the index of services output in July 2022 is revised significantly upwards, due in particular to late or corrective VAT statements: initially published at -1.9%, it is now estimated at -1.2% after rounding.
