The opinion of the business managers of small building firms on their expected activity for the next three months has degraded between April and July: the corresponding balance has diminished again but remains above its long-term average. Likewise, the craftsmen in the building sector are less confident than in April about the general business outlook for the sector: the related balance of opinion has decreased again, but remains above its long-term average.
The opinion of craftsmen on the change in their activity over the past three months has also deteriorated: the corresponding balance has fallen again for the third quarter in a row and has got closer to its long-term average.
The statistics published in this issue of “Informations rapides” may be less accurate than usual, the response rate being lower this month than usually.
Craftsmen are less optimistic than in April about the evolution of their activity
The opinion of the business managers of small building firms on their expected activity for the next three months has degraded between April and July: the corresponding balance has diminished again but remains above its long-term average. Likewise, the craftsmen in the building sector are less confident than in April about the general business outlook for the sector: the related balance of opinion has decreased again, but remains above its long-term average.
The opinion of craftsmen on the change in their activity over the past three months has also deteriorated: the corresponding balance has fallen again for the third quarter in a row and has got closer to its long-term average.
The opinion of building craftsmen on the change in their workforce size has degraded
In July, somewhat fewer craftsmen than in April have reported that they had increased their workforce size over the past three months: the corresponding balance of opinion has fallen again and has reached back its long-term average. Regarding the expected change in workforce size over the next three months, the balance has degraded for the third consecutive quarter, but stands slightly above its average.
Recruitment difficulties remain high
In July, 64% of the business managers of small building firms have reported experiencing recruiting difficulties. This proportion is stable at a very high level. At the same time, 42% of building craftsmen have declared they are training apprentices. This share has bounced back clearly in comparison to April and has gone back above its average.
