In Q1 2022, production costs in construction rose by 3.0% Costs of production indices in construction - first quarter 2022
In Q1 2022, the production costs in construction rose by 3.0% over a quarter, after +1.3% in the previous quarter. They sped up both in specialized construction works (+2.6% after +1.1%), in civil engineering (+4.4% after +2.2%) and in buildings construction (+3.1% after +1.1%). These rises were mainly due to the significant rises in energy costs (+14.6% in buildings construction, +18.0% in public works), the increases in labour costs with the revision of the minimum wage in January 2022, and the increase of material costs, especially steel products.
Year on year, the production costs for construction went up by 7.6% in Q1 2022 (after +6.1% in the previous quarter). They sped up in specialized construction works (+6.5% after +4.9%), in civil engineering (+12.2% after +11.3%) and in buildings construction (+7.8% after +6.1%).
