In the following paragraphs, percentage changes by subsections are presented in descending order of their contribution to the overall percentage change of the services production index. The contribution of a subsection takes into account its weight and the magnitude of its evolution.

All data are corrected for seasonal and working day effects (SA-WDA).

Services output continued to grow in March 2022 (+0.8%) after a sharp increase in February (+2.6%).

In March 2022, output went up in most services sectors

In March 2022, output increased strongly in arts, entertainment and recreation (+13.5% after 0.0%) and accelerated in transportation and storage (+2.0% after +0.7%), where all subsectors were up. The rebound recorded in February in accommodation and food services activities continued in March (+2.1% after +8.6% in February amid a downturn of the Covid-19 epidemic) and output recovered in information-communication (+1.0% after –0.8%). Output was stable in professional, scientific and technical activities (0.0% after +3.5%). It declined in real estate activities (–2.0% after +2.6%) and administrative and support services activities (–1.3% after +4.7%)

Over a year, output was up sharply (+16.0%)

Due in particular to a base effect linked to the persistent restrictions at the beginning of 2021 on a part of cultural and food service activities, the services output of the first quarter of 2022 was 16.0% higher than that of the first quarter of 2021.

Output increased sharply year-on-year in accommodation and food service activities (+122.3%), arts, entertainment and recreation (+96.9%), professional, scientific and technical activities (+9.9%), transportation and storage (+12.5% with a marked improvement in air transport:+68.3%), administrative and support services activities (+9.2%), and information-communication (+7.1%). Growth was more moderate in real estate activities (+3.8%).

Revisions

The month-on-month percentage change in the index of services output in February 2022 is left unchanged at +2.6%.
