All data are corrected for seasonal and working day effects (SA-WDA).
In December 2021, the volume of sales in trade decreased (−1.2%), following a growth in November (+1.4%).
In December 2021, a drop in the volume of sales more pronounced in wholesale trade than in retail trade
In December 2021, the volume of sales in wholesale trade dwindled (−1.9% after +1.8% in November), especially in household goods (−2.8% after +5.0%). However, it bounced back in information and communication equipment (+1.1% after −1.1%).
The volume of sales in retail trade also decreased in December (−0.5% after +0.6% in November). Within specialised stores, the decrease was mainly led by the "other household equipment" (furniture, appliances, hardware, etc.: −2.1% after +1.1%) and information and communication equipment (−4.6% after −0.4% in November).
In December 2021, the volume of sales slowed down in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.2% after +1.3% in November). While it sped up in the sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories (+1.9% after +0.4%), it fell back in the sale of motor vehicles (−0.3% after +1.9%).
