Increase in turnover over a year (+5.3%)
The turnover of the past three months (September to November 2021) in large-scale food retailing increased (+5.3%) when compared with that of the same period one year earlier. While the sales decreased in food products (−1.8%), they increased markedly in non-food products (+4.8%), with a base effect due to the restrictive measures that had been put in place during the second lockdown on October 29, 2020. Owing to this base effect, combined with the rise in fuel prices, the sales grew very strongly in automotive fuel (+47.1%).
Year on year, the sales from September to November grew both in supermarkets (+4.4%) and hypermarkets (+6.6%).
