In June 2021, turnover bounced back strongly in manufacturing industry (+9.3%) Turnover in industry and construction - June 2021
In June 2021, turnover bounced back strongly in the manufacturing industry (+9.3% after −3.5%) as in industry as a whole (+6.8% after −1.8%).
Export turnover rebonded also strongly in June (+11.4% after −7.4%).
Due mainly to the sharp rises in producer prices recorded since the start of the health crisis, the turnover in June was higher than that of February 2020 (last month before the first lockdown), in the manufacturing industry (+2.0%) as in industry as a whole (+4.3%). Export turnover remained however 2.2% below its February 2020 level.
In the following paragraphs, percentage changes by subsections are presented in descending order of their contribution to the overall percentage change of the industrial production index. The contribution of a subsection takes into account its weight and the magnitude of its evolution.
All data are corrected for seasonal and working day effects (SA-WDA).

In June, turnover in the manufacturing industry increased especially in the manufacture of transport equipment
In June, turnover increased markedly in the manufacture of transport equipment (+53.3% after −22.2%), due to a sharp rebound in the “other transport equipment“ (+108.2% after −31.3%). The turnover bounced back in “other manufacturing” too (+3.8% after −0.9%) and grew in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+2.7% after +0.8%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+3.0% after a stability) and in the manufacture of coke refined petroleum products (+4.4% after +0.4%). The turnover decreased in mining and quarrying; energy; water supply; waste management (−2.8% after +5.1%).
Compared to February 2020, turnover increased notably in mining and quarrying; energy; water supply; waste management (+14.8%). It also went up in “other manufacturing” (+6.3%), in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+4.9%) and in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+3.8). Conversely, turnover remained down in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−10.9%) and in the manufacture of transport equipment (−9.2%).
