In May 2021, the price of oil recovered Prices of oil and raw material imports - May 2021
In May 2021, the prices of oil in euros recovered (+4.3% after −1.5% in April). The prices in euros of imported commodities (excluding energy) eased (+3.9% after +5.2%), just like raw food materials (+1.8% after +6.8%). However, the prices of industrial raw materials accelerated (+6.5% after +3.2%).
For January 2021 to May 2021, in default of available data, values of pulp have simply been extended as constant, from dollars quotations. Actual data will be released once available.

In May 2021, the prices of North Sea crude oil (Brent) in euros recovered (+4.3% after −1.5%) to an average of €56 per barrel. In dollars, the price recovered too (+5.8% after −0.9).

Industrial commodity prices increased gain, because of mineral materials
In May 2021, the prices of industrial raw materials increased again (+6.5% after +3.2%) because of the acceleration in mineral materials prices (+7.9% after+4.2%). As a matter of fact, the prices of ferrous metals increased again (+13.9% after +5.7%), like those of precious metals (+4.0% after +1.7%), and those of non ferrous metals (+4.3% after +3.6%). Otherwise, the prices of agricultural raw materials decreased less than in April (−0.2% after −1.3%). The prices of natural textile fibres recovered (+1.7% after −1.2%), like those of natural rubber (+1.1% after −6.5%), hide (+2.3% after −0.7%) and tropical woods (+0.3% after −0.8%), while the prices of sawn softwood increased more (−1.4% after −0.7%).

Food commodity prices increased less than in April
In euros, the prices of imported raw food materials increased less than in April (+1.8% after +6.8% in April), because the prices of meats eased (+1.4% after +16.8%), and the prices of seafood products fell back(−6.3% after +10.5%). The prices of oil seeds and vegetable accelerated (+5.6% after +2.1%) like those of cereals (+4.3% after +1.8%) and sugar (+4.2% after +2.3%). The prices of tropical foodstuffs recovered (+6.1% after −0.9%).

Petroleum products: prices of petroleum are quotations from the Rotterdam market which supplies European market.
Indices of non-energy raw materials imported by France: the indices calculated by INSEE are monthly averages of raw materials prices, weighted by their share in the French imports of raw materials (2010 = 100).
