In Q1 2021, the house prices in metropolitan France continued to rise, but slowed down a bit: +1.3% compared to the previous quarter with seasonnally adjusted (s.a.) data, after +2.3% in Q4 2020. Year on year, house prices increased this quarter (+5.5% after +5.8%).

House prices increased once again in Q1 2021

In Q1 2021, house prices slowed down (+1.3%, s.a. data), after +2.3% in the previous quarter. In detail, second-hand dwellings prices increased by +1.4% (after +2.4% in the previous quarter); new dwellings prices accelerated (+1.5% after +0.6% the previous quarter).

Year on year, house prices slightly slowed down (+5.5% after +5.8% in the previous quarter). Second-hand dwellings prices grew much faster (+5.9% y-o-y) than new dwellings prices (+3.3%).

New and second-hand dwellings price index in metropolitan France

Revisions

The Q4 2020 indices were revised to include observations recorded after the previous publication as well as the revision of the weights of new and second-hand dwellings. The year-on-year variation in new dwellings prices in Q4 2020 was revised downwards by 0.3 points compared to the previous publication (+2.5% instead of +2.8%). Second-hand dwellings prices stood at +6.4%. All in all, housing prices year-on-year variation in Q4 2020 was revised downwards (+5.8% instead of +6.1%).
