In Q1 2021, the production costs in construction increased by 1.5% Costs of production indices in construction - first quarter 2021
In Q1 2021, the production costs in construction bounced back (+1.5% after –0.6% in the previous quarter). This rebound was mainly due to the rise of costs in civil engineering (+3.5% after –1.6%) linked to those of bitumen and basic steel prices. Costs also rebounded in specialized construction works (+1.1% after –0.4%), and in buildings construction (+1.5% after –0.2%).
Year on year, the production costs for construction increased by 2.2% in the first quarter 2021, after +1.2% in the previous quarter: the costs bounced back in civil engineering (+1.8% after –0.5%) and sped up in specialized construction works (+2.2% after 1.5% in the previous quarter) and in buildings construction (+2.7% after +1.5%).
