In April 2021, the prices of oil in euros decreased a bit, after five months of sustained increase (−1.5% after +6.8% in March). The prices in euros of imported commodities (excluding energy) kept increasing (+5.2% after +3.5%), both as a result of industrial raw materials (+3.2% after +3.5%) and raw food materials (+6.8% after +3.5 %).
For January 2021 to March 2021, in default of available data, values of pulp have simply been extended as constant, from dollars quotations. Actual data will be released once available.

Oil prices decreased a bit, after five months of sustained increase
In April 2021, the prices of North Sea crude oil (Brent) in euros increased again (−1.5% after +6.8%) to an average of €54 per barrel. The fall in dollars was less wide (−0.9% after +5.0).

Industrial commodity prices increased because of mineral materials
In April 2021, the prices of industrial raw materials accelerated (+3.2% after +3.5%) because of the acceleration in mineral materials prices (+4.2% after +3.8%). As a matter of fact, the prices of ferrous metals increased again (+5.7% after +4.5%), those of precious metals recovered (+1.5% after −3.1%), but those of non ferrous metals eased (+3.6% after +4.4%). Otherwise, the prices of agricultural raw materials fell back (−1.3% after +2.0%). This fell were extended to all agricultural raw materials, whether it be natural textile fibres (−1.2% after +0.2%), natural rubber (−6.5% after +5.3%), hide (−0.7% after +1.7%), tropical woods (−0.8% after+1.7%) or sawn softwood (−0.7% after +1.7%).

Food commodity prices kept accelerating
In euros, the prices of imported raw food materials accelerated again (+6.8% after +3.5% in March and +2.8% in February), as those of meats (+16.8% after +7.7%), seafood products (+10.5% after +5.9%) and oil seeds and vegetable (+2.1% after +1.0%). The prices of cereals recovered (+1.8%% after −1.7%) just like sugar (+2.3% after −5.2%). Only the prices of tropical foodstuffs fell back (−0.9% after +2.3%).

Crude oil: from 1986, the price of Brent gradually established as a representative reference price of European supplies.
Petroleum products: prices of petroleum are quotations from the Rotterdam market which supplies European market.
Indices of non-energy raw materials imported by France: the indices calculated by INSEE are monthly averages of raw materials prices, weighted by their share in the French imports of raw materials (2010 = 100).
