In February 2021, the price of oilaccelerated Prices of oil and raw material imports - February 2021
In February 2021, the prices of oil in euros accelerated (+14.4% after +9.6% in January). The prices in euros of imported commodities (excluding energy) eased (+2.6% after +3.1%), both as a result of industrial raw materials (+2.4% after +3.1%) and raw food materials (+2.8% after +3.0 %).
Pulp quotations since November 2020 has been revised by the data provider. Pulp index and associated aggregates indices (agricultural raw materials, industrial raw materials and general index) may differ from previous released for that months.
In February 2021, the prices of oil in euros accelerated (+14.4% after +9.6% in January). The prices in euros of imported commodities (excluding energy) eased (+2.6% after +3.1%), both as a result of industrial raw materials (+2.4% after +3.1%) and raw food materials (+2.8% after +3.0 %).

Oil prices increased again
In February 2021, the prices of North Sea crude oil (Brent) in euros accelerated again (+14.4% after +9.6%) to an average of €51,5 per barrel. The increase in dollars was less marked (+13.7% after +9.6%).

Industrial commodity prices eased
In February 2021, the prices of industrial raw materials eased(+2.4% after+3.1%)like those of mineral materials (+1.6% after+3.5%). The prices of ferrous metals fell back (−2.3% after+9.9%), those of non ferrous metals accelerated (+4.6% after+0.3%)and those of precious metals eased (+0.5% after+1.6%).However, the prices of agricultural raw materials accelerated(+6.1% after+5.1%), as those ofnatural rubber (+7.5% after +0.4%),tropical woods (+2.4% after+1.5%) and sawn softwood (+0.6% after +0.0%). The prices of natural textile fibres eased(+5.7% after +6.2%), as didthe price of pulp (+12.8% after +14.3%). The price of hide increased at the same pace than last month (+0.7% after +0.6%).

Food commodity prices eased
In euros, the prices of imported raw food materials eased(+2.8% after +3.0% in January), alike the prices of sugar (+6.8% after+8.6%%),meats (+5.7% after+8.3%), oil seeds and vegetable (+1.9% after+4.9%)andcereals (+4.4% after+10.7%).The prices of tropical foodstuffsrecovered(+3.2% after −1.0%)and those of seafood products decreased again (−1.0% after −1.1%).

Crude oil: from 1986, the price of Brent gradually established as a representative reference price of European supplies.
Petroleum products: prices of petroleum are quotations from the Rotterdam market which supplies European market.
Indices of non-energy raw materials imported by France: the indices calculated by INSEE are monthly averages of raw materials prices, weighted by their share in the French imports of raw materials (2010 = 100).
