Producer prices in French industry: +1.2%
The industrial producer prices rose by 1.2% in November 2020, after –0.1% in the previous month. The prices for the home market ramped up (+1.7% after a stability) while those for the foreign markets increased very slightly (+0.2% after –0.4%). Year on year, the industrial producer prices decreased by 1.9% in November 2020 (after –2.0% in the previous month).
HOME MARKET: +1.7%
The industrial producer prices for the home market rose by 1.7% in November 2020 (after a stability), driven up by the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water. However, those of manufactured products stabilized (after +0.2%). Year on year, the industrial producer prices for the home market declined by 1.8% in November 2020 (after –2.1% in the previous month).
Seasonal rise in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water
In November 2020, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water rebounded strongly (+6.7% after –0.3%), owing to a seasonal rise in producer prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (+8.7% after a stability), especially those of electricity transmission and distribution services, due to the switch to the winter rate. Year on year, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water fell however by 0.3% in November 2020 (after –0.7% in the previous month).
Slight rise of refined petroleum product prices
In the wake of crude oil prices, the prices of refined petroleum products grew by 2.8% in November 2020 over a month (after +0.1%). Over a year, they fell by 37.7% over a year (after –39.7%).

Virtual stability of prices of the “other industrial products”
The prices of the “other industrial products” remained virtually stable in November 2020 (–0.1% after +0.1%). The prices of basic metals sped up (+0.9% after +0.7%), driven by rising commodity prices (aluminium, copper). On the contrary, those of chemicals and chemical products fell back slightly (–0.5% after +0.3%). Year on year, the prices of the “other industrial products” decreased by 1.3% in November 2020 (after –1.5% in the previous month).
Slight decrease in the prices of electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery
The prices of electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery declined by 0.2% (after –0.1%) in November 2020, especially those of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (–0.4% after a stability). They stabilized over a year (+0.1% after +0.3%).
Virtual stability in transport equipment prices
In November 2020, the prices of transport equipment were virtually stable over a month (+0.1% after +0.3%). Year on year, they remained dynamic (+2.2% after +2.4%).
Stability of food and beverage prices
In November 2020, the food and beverage prices stabilized (after +0.4%): the strong rebound in the prices of oils and fats (+3.5% after –0,9%) was offset by declines in the prices of preserved meat and meat products (–0.8% after +0.7%) and in those of dairy and cheese products (–0.7% after +0.4%). Year on year, the food and beverage prices decreased by 0.4% (after –0.1%).

FOREIGN MARKETS: +0.2%
In November 2020, the industrial export producer prices recovered slightly over a month (+0.2% after –0.4%), driven up by those of electricity. The prices of manufactured products were unchanged (after +0.2%): those of refined petroleum products sped up (+5.7% after +2.3%) while those of the other major product families were stable or virtually stable.
Year on year, the industrial export producer prices declined by 2.1% in November 2020 (like in the previous month), as did manufactured product prices. Those of refined petroleum products fell by 37.7% (after –40.8%). The prices of the “other industrial products” remained down (–1.8% after –2.0%), as did those of electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery (–0.4% after –0.3%). Those of transport equipment fell back for the first time in 3 years (–0.5% after +0.2%). At last, the decline in food and beverage prices sharpened (–1.4% after –0.9%).

Import price indices of industrial products: +0.5%
The import prices of industrial products sped up in November 2020 (+0.5% after +0.1%), driven up by those of hydrocarbons. Manufactured product prices rose by 0.2% (after +0.1%). Those for coke and refined petroleum products recovered slightly (+3.6% after –0.6%). Transport equipment prices grew by 0.4% (after +0.1%). Those of food products, beverages and tobacco increased by 0.4% (after –0.1%). The prices of the “other industrial products” stabilized (+0.1% after +0.2%), as did those of electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery (stability like in the previous month).
Year on year, the import prices of industrial products declined by 3.8% in November 2020 (after –4.2%).The prices for coke and refined petroleum products dropped by 41.3% (after –43.6%). Those of the “other industrial products” declined by 1.1% (after –1.7%). On the contrary, the transport equipment prices kept rising (+0.7% after +0.5%), as did those of electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery (+0.3% after +0.2%). At last, the prices of food products, beverages and tobacco remained virtually stable (+0.1% after a stability).
