In Q3 2020, house prices in metropolitan France were higher than in the previous quarter: +0.7% with seasonnally adjusted (s.a.) data, after +1.3% in Q2 2020. Year on year, the increase in house prices was less pronounced this quarter (+5.0% after +5.4%).
Starting with this issue of “Informations Rapides”, the quarterly presentation of the house price indices includes seasonally adjusted series. The raw series remain available in the data file associated with this publication, and in the associated historical data.
In Q3 2020, house prices in metropolitan France were higher than in the previous quarter: +0.7% with seasonnally adjusted (s.a.) data, after +1.3% in Q2 2020. Year on year, the increase in house prices was less pronounced this quarter (+5.0% after +5.4%).
Year on year, the rise in house prices weakened
In Q3 2020, house prices were higher than in the previous quarter (+0.7%, s.a. data), but the increase was weaker than in the previous quarter (+1.3%). In detail, second-hand dwellings prices increased by 0.5% (after +1.5% in the previous quarter); new dwellings prices increased by 1.3% (after –0.5% in the previous quarter).
Year on year, house prices slowed down (+5.0% after +5.4% in the previous quarter). Second-hand dwellings prices grew much faster (+5.2% y-o-y) than new dwellings prices (+2.5%).

Revisions
The Q2 2020 indices were revised to include observations recorded after the previous publication. The year-on-year variation in new dwellings prices in Q2 2020 was unchanged (+2.3%). Second-hand dwellings prices was very slightly revised downwards (+5.7% instead of 5.8%). All in all, housing prices year-on-year variation in Q2 2020 was also very slightly revised downwards (+5.4%, instead of 5.5%).
