In July 2020, the turnover in large-scale food retailing declined (−0.8%) after a virtual stability in June (+0.1%). Sales kept decreasing in food products (−2.5% after −4.1%) and in non-food products (−2.6% after −3.4%). By contrast, they kept increasing in automotive fuel (+15.4% after +44.0%).
Turnover bounced back in supermarkets (+0.8% after −3.6%) whereas it fell back in hypermarkets (−1.5% after +3.1%).

Increase over the last three months (+0.9%)
Over the last three months (May to July), the turnover in large-scale food retailing rose (+0.9%) compared to the previous three months. Over that period, sales decreased in food products (−2.8%) whereas they grew sharply in non-food products (+10.8%) and in automotive fuel (+8.0%).
Turnover decreased in supermarkets (−3.3%) whereas it grew in hypermarkets (+2.9%).
Virtual stability over a year (−0.1%)
The turnover of the past three months in large-scale food retailing was virtually stable (−0.1%) compared to the same period one year earlier. Over that period, sales grew in food products (+4.1%) and in non-food products (+6.7%). Sales collapsed in automotive fuel (−29.1%).
Year on year, sales increased slightly in supermarkets (+0.7%) whereas they declined in hypermarkets (−2.2%).
