The producer prices in French industry rose by 0.4% in July 2020 (after +0.6% in June): those for the French market slowed down (+0.4% after +0.7% in June) whereas those for the foreign markets sped up slightly (+0.5% after +0.3% in June). Year on year, the producer prices in French industry kept nevertheless down (–2.1% after –2.2%).

Producer prices in French industry: +0.4%
The producer prices in French industry rose by 0.4% in July 2020 (after +0.6% in June): those for the French market slowed down (+0.4% after +0.7% in June) whereas those for the foreign markets sped up slightly (+0.5% after +0.3% in June). Year on year, the producer prices in French industry kept nevertheless down (–2.1% after –2.2%).
FRENCH MARKET: +0.4%
The French producer prices in industry for the French market decelerated in July 2020 (+0.4% after +0.7%): manufactured product prices slowed down (+0.3% after +0.8%), while those of mining and quarrying products, energy and water strengthened (+0.7% after +0.2%). Year on year, the French producer prices in industry for the French market declined by 2.6% (like in June).
Rise in refined petroleum product prices
In the wake of oil prices, the prices of refined petroleum products slowed down strongly in July 2020 over a month (+7.0% after +27.4%) and remained below over a year (–36.5% after –38.2%).

Stability in prices of the “other industrial products”
The prices of the “other industrial products” stabilized in July 2020 (after +0.3%). The chemical product prices kept rising (+1.5% after +2.7%). On the contrary, those of rubber and plastics products declined again (–0.7% after –0.5%) and the wearing apparel prices fell back (–2.2% after +0.1%). Year on year, the prices of the “other industrial products” decreased by 1.9% in July 2020 (after –2.0%).
Stability in food and beverage prices
In July 2020, the food and beverage prices stabilized over a month (after –0.1%) and over a year (+0.1% after +0.3%).

Rise in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water
In July 2020, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water sped up (+0.7% after +0.2%). The prices of electricity production and trade kept growing (+2.0% after +1.2%), especially on the wholesale market. Year on year, the decline in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water strengthened in July 2020 (–2.6% after –2.1%).
FOREIGN MARKETS: +0.5%
In July 2020, the producer prices of French industrial products for foreign markets sped up slightly (+0.5% after +0.3%), driven up by the electricity prices, whereas those of manufactured products remained virtually stable (+0.1% after a stability in June). Year on year, they declined by 1.2% (after –1.4% in June).
In the wake of oil prices, the export prices of refined petroleum products remained dynamic over a month (+14.7% after +17.7%) but kept declining strongly over a year (–39.8% after –45.9%).
The export prices of the “other industrial products” grew by 0.5% (after +0.4%), driven up by those of chemical products (+2.6% after +2.1%). Year on year, they decreased by 2.0% (after –3.1%).
The export prices of transport equipment kept declining over a month (–0.7% after –0.9%) and decelerated over a year (+2.7% after +4.0%).
The export prices of food products and beverages fell again (–0.5% after –1.2%), especially those of beverages (–1.1% after –1.6%). Year on year, they stabilized (after +0.1%).

Import price indices of industrial products: +0.7%
In July 2020, the import prices of industrial products kept rising but at a more reduced pace (+0.7% after +1.5% in June), driven up by the rises in prices of refined and unrefined hydrocarbons. Year on year, they kept falling strongly (–4.0% after –4.6%).
The import prices for coke and refined petroleum products slowed down over a month (+8.6% after +27.0%) and declined by 35.9% over a year.
The import prices of “other industrial products” recovered slightly (+0.2% after –0.1%), driven up by wearing apparel prices (+2.2% after –0.2%). Year on year, they declined by 1.8% (after –2.0%).
The import prices of food, beverages and tobacco grew by 0.3% over a month (after +0.2%) but decreased by 0.5% over a year (after –1.1%).
