(−0.1%) Turnover in industry and construction - February 2020
In February 2020, the turnover was virtually stable in the manufacturing industry (−0.1%) after the rise in January (+0.5%). It fell slightly in industry as a whole (−0.2% after +0.2%).
Export turnover picked up in February (+1.0% after −0.1%).
The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution to the overall evolution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.
All data are corrected for seasonal adjustments and working day adjustments (SA-WDA).
SA-WDA models have been reestimated on a sub-period to adjust indices on the recent past, in order to provide improved fit and better robustness (SA-WDA models were until now estimated on the whole period of indices).
In February 2020, the turnover was virtually stable in the manufacturing industry (−0.1%) after the rise in January (+0.5%). It fell slightly in industry as a whole (−0.2% after +0.2%).
Export turnover picked up in February (+1.0% after −0.1%).
Decrease over the last three months (−0.6%)
Over the last three months (December to February), the turnover declined in the manufacturing industry (−0.6%) and decreased slightly in industry as a whole (−0.2%), compared to the previous three months. Within manufacturing, the turnover fell in “other manufacturing” (−1.3%), in the manufacture of transport equipment (−1.4%) and in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (−0.5%). By contrast, it increased in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+0.8%) and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+1.2%).
