Cereal and oilseed prices fall further in March
Cereal prices went down for the second consecutive month in March (–1.9% after -0.9%), mainly due to lower prices in soft wheat (–2.8% after –1.4%) and maize (–2.0% after –1.9%). Year on year, cereal prices were almost stable (–0.1% after –2.1% in February). The fall in oilseed prices accelerated in March (–6.1% after –3.9% in one month), in the wake of the fall in oil prices. Fresh vegetable prices bounced back sharply year on year
Year on year, fresh vegetable prices rebounded strongly in March (+21.1% after –10.9%) due to sharp increases in the prices of salads, cucumbers and endives. In March, fresh fruit prices rose again slightly year on year (+0.8% after +1.1%), as price increases in apples and pears were partly offset by the sharp drop in strawberry prices.

The indice of producer prices for agricultural products (IPPAP) measures the changes in product prices when they are put on the market for the first time. It is published in base and reference 100 in 2015. The weight-coefficients of fresh fruits and vegetables change every month so that they reflect their very seasonal pattern. As a result their variations must only be interpreted year on year. If needed, indices are seasonally adjusted.
The indice of purchase prices of the means of agricultural production (IPAMPA) reflects the evolution prices of goods and services used in the agricultural process. It is not seasonaly adjusted.
