In November 2019, the sales volume in overall trade grew slightly after a virtual stability in October (+0.2% after +0.1%). It accelerated in retail trade (+1.0% after +0.2%). It bounced back in retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+1.0% after −0.7%) and dwindled in wholesale trade (−0.5% after +0.2%).

In November 2019, the sales volume in overall trade grew slightly after a virtual stability in October (+0.2% after +0.1%). It accelerated in retail trade (+1.0% after +0.2%). It bounced back in retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+1.0% after −0.7%) and dwindled in wholesale trade (−0.5% after +0.2%).

The sales volume in overall trade increased over the last three months

Over the last three months (September to November 2019), the sales volume in overall trade rose by 0.5% compared to the previous three months. It increased in all sectors: it grew by 0.6% in wholesale trade, by 0.4% in retail trade and by 0.2% in retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. Among retail trade, it rose in specialised stores (+1.2%) whereas it decreased in non-specialised stores (−0.3%) and in retail trade not in stores (−1.1%).

The sales volume rose by 3.0% over a year

The sales volume in overall trade grew by 3.0% over a year. It rose in wholesale trade (+3.0%), in retail trade (+2.4%) and in trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+4.2%). Among retail trade, it grew in specialised stores (+4.0%) and in retail trade not in stores (+4.9%) whereas it declined in non-specialised stores (−0.5%).

In November, further increase in retail trade

In November 2019, the sales volume in retail trade increased again (+1.0% after +0.2% in October). It accelerated in specialised stores (+1.4% after +0.5%) and in non-specialised stores (+0.4% after +0.1%) and recovered in retail trade not in stores (+0.9% after −1.7%). Among specialised stores, the sales volume gathered pace in sale of other goods (+1.9% after +0.3%), in other household equipment (+1.1% after +0.6%), in cultural goods (+2.0% after +0.3%) and in information and communication equipment (+1.4% after 0.9%).

According to the first early estimates, the sales volume in retail trade except of motor vehicles and motorcycles should decrease in December (−1.3%). It should grow by 2.2% year on year.

In November, rebound in trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles

In November 2019, the sales volume in trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles bounced back (+1.0% after −0.7% in October). It recovered in motor vehicles (+1.4% after −0.6%), increased slightly in maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+0.4%) after a stability in October and was stable in motor vehicle parts and accessories after a decrease (−1.0%).

In November, downturn in wholesale trade

In November 2019, the sales volume in wholesale decreased by 0.5% after a slight increase in October (+0.2%). It dwindled sharply in agricultural, raw materials and live animals (−5.3% after +0.5%), and more moderately in household goods (−0.5% after +0.6%) and in information and communication equipment (−1.4% after +2.5%). By contrast, it recovered in other specialised wholesale (+0.5% after −1.2%) and was virtually stable for wholesaler on a fee or contract basis (+0.1% after +2.0%).
