In Q3 2019, buildings’ maintenance and improvement work price index (IPEA) increased by +0.3%, a similar rise than in the previous quarter. Prices evolved differently based on the type of work provided. Thus, they fell back in floor and wall covering (−0.2% after +0.2%) and slowed down in plastering (+0.1% after +0.7%) and in other specialized construction activities (+0.1% after +0.9%). Conversely, they accelerated in roofing (+1.3% after +0.4%) and bounced back in electrical installation (+0.4% after -0.3%).
Over a quarter, the rise was stronger in the non-residential sector (+0.3%) than in the residential sector (+0.2%).
Over a year, buildings' maintenance and improvement work prices increased by 1.5% in Q3 2019, after +1.3% in the previous quarter. The rise was higher in the residential sector (+1.6%) than in the non-residential sector (+1.4%). Prices accelerated in joinery installation (+2.1% after +1.8%) and in roofing (+3.5% after +2.2%). They were practically stable in electrical installation (+0.1% after -0.7%) and bounced back in other construction installation (+0.5% after -0.1%). Conversely, they slowed down in floor and wall covering (+1.3% after +1.6%) and in other specialized construction activities (+1.9% after +2.1%).
Revisions
The evolution in the IPEA price index between the first quarter of 2019 and the second quarter of 2019 was unchanged to +0.3%.

The buildings’ maintenance and improvement work price index (IPEA) is a quarterly index which measures the evolution of price excluding taxes charged by construction enterprises (including artisanal forms) for their maintenance and improvement works in residential and nonresidential buildings during the quarter under review.
The IPEA indices are raw data. That means they are not seasonally adjusted.
