In August 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing bounced back (+0.4%) after a decrease in July (−0.8%). Sales recovered in food products (+0.6% after −0.1%) whereas it was virtually stable in non-food products (−0.1% after −2.0%) and in automotive fuel (+0.1% after +1.2%).

Turnover was virtually stable in supermarkets (+0.1% after −1.0%) whereas it increased in hypermarkets (+0.4% after −0.1%).

In August 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing bounced back (+0.4%) after a decrease in July (−0.8%). Sales recovered in food products (+0.6% after −0.1%) whereas it was virtually stable in non-food products (−0.1% after −2.0%) and in automotive fuel (+0.1% after +1.2%).

Turnover was virtually stable in supermarkets (+0.1% after −1.0%) whereas it increased in hypermarkets (+0.4% after −0.1%).

Decrease over the last three months (−1.2%)

Over the last three months (June to August 2019), the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased by 1.2% compared to the previous three months. Sales decreased by 1.6% both in food products and in non-food products. Sales of automotive fuel rose (+1.3%).

Turnover declined in supermarkets (−0.8%) and in hypermarkets (−1.4%).

Decrease of 1.3% over a year

The turnover of the past three months in large-scale food retailing decreased by 1.3% compared to the same period one year earlier. Over that period, sales fell back in food products (−1.5%) and in non-food products (−2.8%). Sales of automotive fuel rose (+0.6%). Year on year, sales decreased in supermarkets (−0.9%) and in hypermarkets (−1.7%).
