In June 2019, the sales volume in overall trade fell back (−0.4%) after a virtual stability in May (+0.1%). It dwindled in wholesale trade (−0.9% after a stability), recovered in retail trade (+0.4% after −0.1%) and slowed down in retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.2% after +0.7%).
The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution to the overall variation. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.
In June 2019, the sales volume in overall trade fell back (−0.4%) after a virtual stability in May (+0.1%). It dwindled in wholesale trade (−0.9% after a stability), recovered in retail trade (+0.4% after −0.1%) and slowed down in retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.2% after +0.7%).
The sales volume in overall trade increased over the last three months
Over the second quarter 2019, the sales volume in overall trade rose by 0.9% compared to the first quarter 2019. It grew by 1.0% in wholesale trade and in retail trade – it rose in non-specialised stores (+1.1%), in specialised stores (+0.6%) and in retail trade not in stores (+2.8%). The sales volume was virtually stable in retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.1%).

The sales volume rose by 2.6% over a year
The sales volume in overall trade grew by 2.6% over a year. It rose sharply in wholesale trade (+2.6%) and in retail trade (+2.9%) – it grew in every subsection: specialised stores (+3.0%), non-specialised stores (+2.0%) and retail trade not in stores (+6.2%). It increased in trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+1.8%).

In June, downturn in wholesale trade
In June 2019, the sales volume in wholesale trade fell back (−0.9% after a stability in May). It fell back in particularly for wholesaler on a fee or contract basis (−2.2% after +0.3%), in household goods (−1.3% after +0.7%) and in information and communication equipment (−3.3% after −2.0%). By contrast, it bounced back in non specialised wholesale (+1.5% after −0.7%) and increased slightly in other specialised wholesale (+0.2% after +0.7%).
In June, increase in retail trade
In June 2019, the sales volume in retail trade bounced back (+0.4%) after a virtual stability in May (−0.1%). It increased again in specialised stores (+0.6% after +0.3%), recovered in retail trade not in stores (+0.9% after −0.8%) and stabilized in non-specialised stores after a decline in May (−0.5%). Among specialised stores, the sales volume accelerated in retail sale of other goods (+1.2% after +0.4%) and recovered in automotive fuel (+2.6% after −1.1%). By contrast, it dwindled in food, beverages and tobacco (−1.0% after +0.2%) and in cultural and recreation goods (−0.7% after +0.2%).
According to the first early estimates, the sales volume in retail trade except of motor vehicles and motorcycles should be virtually stable in July 2019 (+0.1%). It should grow by 2.5% year on year.
In June, slight increase in trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles
In June 2019, the sales volume in trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles slowed down (+0.2% after +0.7% in May). It accelerated in sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories (+1.3% after +0.3%) and was virtually stable in sale of motor vehicles (+0.1% after +0.9%). By contrast, it decreased again in maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (−1.4% after −0.2%) and declined sharply in sale, maintenance and repair of motorcycles (−3.6% after +0.4%).
