In June 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased again (−0.8% after −0.4% in May). Sales kept decreasing in food products (−1.7% after −0.9%) whereas they were virtually stable in non-food products (+0.1% after +0.8%). Sales in automotive fuel recovered (+0.6% after −0.6%).
Turnover dwindled slightly in supermarkets (−0.2% after +0.2%) whereas it decreased again in hypermarkets (−1.1% after −1.1%).

Increase over the last three months (+1.1%)
Over the last three months (April to June 2019), the turnover in large-scale food retailing grew by 1.1% compared to the previous three months. Over that period, sales increased in food products (+1.3%) whereas it fell back in non-food products (−0.3%). Sales of automotive fuel rose (+2.4%).
Over the second quarter 2019, turnover increased in supermarkets (+1.2%) and in hypermarkets (+1.3%).
Increase of 1.2% over a year
The turnover of the past three months in large-scale food retailing increased by 1.2% compared to the same period one year earlier. Sales in food products grew by 1.4%, whereas they decreased in non-food products (−1.0%). Sales of automotive fuel rose (+1.8%). Year on year, sales grew in supermarkets (+0.8%) and in hypermarkets (+1.1%).
