The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution to the overall evolution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.

In May 2019, the turnover increased again in the manufacturing industry (+1.3% after +0.5% in April). It also grew in industry as a whole (+1.1% after +0.4%).

Export turnover rose in May (+1.9% after +0.1% in April).

Increase over the last three months (+1.5%)

Over the last three months (March to May), the turnover went up in the manufacturing industry (+1.5%) as well as in industry as a whole (+1.0%), compared to the previous three months. Within manufacturing, the turnover increased sharply in the manufacture of transport equipment (+5.8%) and in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+2.9%). It increased slightly in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.3%) and in “other manufacturing” (+0.3%) but decreased in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−0.5%).

Sharp rise compared to the previous year (+5.2%)

The turnover over the last three months grew strongly by 5.2% compared to the same three months of the previous year in the manufacturing industry. It also increased in industry as a whole (+4.7%). It rose in all subsections of the manufacturing industry − the manufacture of transport equipment (+13.4%), the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+7.5%), the manufacture of food products and beverages (+2.6%) and the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+2.5%).
