In April 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing increased sharply (+1.6%) after a stability in March. Sales recovered in food products (+1.9% after −0.2%) whereas they decreased in non-food products (−0.8% after a stability). Sales in automotive fuel increased again (+1.0% after +2.0%).
Turnover kept rising in supermarkets (+0.4% after +0.3%) and bounced back in hypermarkets (+1.7% after −0.3%).

Increase over the last three months2019 (+0.7%)
Over the last three months (February to April 2019), the turnover in large-scale food retailing grew by 0.7% compared to the previous three months. Over that period, sales increased in food products (+0.3%), in non-food products (+0.4%) and in automotive fuel (+1.2%).
Turnover was virtually stable in supermarkets (+0.1%) whereas it rose in hypermarkets (+0.7%).
Increase of 0.3% over a year
The turnover of the past three months in large-scale food retailing increased by 0.3% compared to the same period one year earlier. Sales in food products were virtually stable (−0.1%), whereas they decreased in non-food products (−1.6%). Sales of automotive fuel rose sharply (+4.3%). Year on year, sales grew in supermarkets (+0.5%) whereas they stabilized in hypermarkets.
