In March 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing was virtually stable after a slight increase in February (−0.1% after +0.3%). Sales were virtually stable in food products (−0.1% after −0.3%) and in non-food products (+0.1% after +0.2%). By contrast, they kept increasing in automotive fuel (+1.7% after +1.2%).
Turnover rose in supermarkets (+0.3%) after a stability in February and fell back in hypermarkets (−0.3 % after +0.6%).
In March 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing was virtually stable after a slight increase in February (−0.1% after +0.3%). Decrease over the first quarter2019 (−0.6%)
Over the first quarter 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased compared to the previous quarter (−0.6%). Over that period, sales were stable in food products and grew in non-food products (+0.7%). They decreased strongly in automotive fuel (−3.1%).
Turnover was virtually stable in supermarkets (+0.1%) whereas it declined in hypermarkets (−0.8%).
Decrease of 0.7% over a year
The turnover of the first quarter 2019 in large-scale food retailing decreased by 0.7% compared to the same period one year earlier. Sales in food products declined (−0.7%), whereas they were virtually stable in non-food products (−0.1%). Sales of automotive fuel rose (+2.3%). Year on year, sales grew in supermarkets (+0.9%) whereas they decreased in hypermarkets (−1.2%).
