In February 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing recovered after a decrease in January (+0.4% after −0.3%). Sales was virtually stable in food products (−0.1% after −0.4%), and kept increasing in non-food products (+0.3% after +0.8%) and in automotive fuel (+1.0% after +3.4%).
Turnover was virtually stable in supermarkets (+0.1% after +0.2%) and grew in hypermarkets (+0.6% after +0.2%).

Decrease over the last three months (−0.7%)
Over the last three months (December to February), the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased compared to the previous three months (−0.7%). Over that period, sales increased slightly in food products (+0.2%) and more markedly in non-food products (+0.7%). They decreased strongly in automotive fuel (−7.1%).
Turnover increased in supermarkets (+0.3%) whereas it declined in hypermarkets (−1.4%).
Growth of 0.3% over a year
The turnover of the past three months in large-scale food retailing rose by 0.3% compared to the same period one year earlier. Sales in food products increased (+0.9%), whereas they decreased in non-food products (−0.4%). Sales of automotive fuel rose (+1.9%). Year on year, sales grew in supermarkets (+1.4%) whereas they decreased in hypermarkets (−0.3%).

Revisions
The variation in the turnover of large-scale food retailing for January 2019 has been revised downwards at −0.3 % instead of +0.8 % initially published. The strong revision was due to a revision of raw series more important than usual.
