In the 4th quarter of 2018, producer prices of services sold to French businesses went up slightly (+0.2% as in the previous quarter). Year on year, they slowed down (+1.0% after +1.5% in the 3rd quarter).

Increases in prices for scientific and technical services, real estate activities, information-communication services and accommodation-food services
Prices for scientific and technical services grew by 0,7% (after +0,2%) in the 4th quarter, mainly thanks to the seasonal rise in prices for media representation services (+14.6%) at the end of the year. Similarly, prices for information-communication services bounced back (+0.3% after −0.3%) notably because of the growth in prices for programming and broadcasting services (+6.4%). Year on year, the prices for scientific and technical services kept rising (+0.8% after +0.9%) and those for information-communication services were virtually stable (−0.1% after +0.7%).
Prices for real estate activities picked up in the 4th quarter (+0.7% after −0.5%) owing to the increase in prices for renting and operating services of own or leased real estate. Year on year, they were stable.
Prices for accommodation-food services rallied in the 4th quarter (+1.0% after −1.3%) mainly thanks to the seasonal increase in prices for hotel and similar accommodation services aimed to professionals (+3.4%). Year on year, prices for accommodation-food services decelerated (+0.9% after +1.5%).
Declines in prices for transport and storage services and for administrative and support services
Prices for transport and storage services were down in the 4th quarter (−0.3%): this was the first decline in the last two years. This slight decrease was mainly due to the seasonal drop in prices for passenger air transport services and to a lesser extent to that of land transport and transport via pipeline prices. Year on year, prices for transport and storage services decelerated in the 4th quarter (+2.5% after +3.4%).
Similarly, prices for administrative and support services folded in the 4th quarter 2018, for the first time since the 1st quarter 2017 (−0.2% after +0.5%), driven by the seasonal backlash in prices for travel agency, tour operator services (−8.4% after +8.6%) and to a lesser extent by the decline in prices for office administrative, office support and other business support services (−0.8% after +0.9%). Year on year, prices for administrative and support services slowed down in the 4th quarter 2018 (+1.4% after +1.8%).

In the 4th quarter of 2018, producer prices of services sold to households in France fell back (−2.3% after +1.9%). The decrease was mainly due to the seasonal declines in prices for accommodation-food services aimed to households (−4.0%), transport and storage services (−3.5%) and real estate activities (−1.6%).

Export prices declined also in the 4th quarter of 2018 (−0.6% after +1.1%) but kept rising year on year (+0.7% after +0.8%). The drop was mainly due to the downturn in prices for transport and storage services (−1.9% after +2.7%).
