In January 2018, the turnover in large-scale food retailing recovered after a decrease in December (+0.8% after −0.4%). Sales fell back in food products (−0.4% after+1.0%). By contrast, they kept increasing in non-food products (+1.9% after+1.0%) and bounced back in automotive fuel (+4.8% after −10.5%).
Turnover increased in supermarkets (+0.4% after+0.3%) and in hypermarkets (+1.0% after −1.4%).
In January 2018, the turnover in large-scale food retailing recovered after a decrease in December (+0.8% after −0.4%). Sales fell back in food products (−0.4% after+1.0%). Slight decrease over the last three months (−0.2%)
Over the last three months (November to January), the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased slightly compared to the previous three months (−0.2%). Over that period, sales were vitually stable in food products (−0.1%) and grew slightly in non-food products (+0.3%). They decreased strongly in automotive fuel (−2.5%).
Turnover increased in supermarkets (+0.8%) whereas it declined in hypermarkets (−0.9%).
Growth of 1.0% over a year
The turnover of the past three months in large-scale food retailing rose by 1.0% compared to the same period one year earlier. Sales in food products increased (+0.5%), whereas they decreased in non-food products (−1.1%). Sales of automotive fuel surged (+7.8%), boosted by the upturn in fuel prices between the two periods. Year on year, sales increased more in supermarkets (+1.8%) than in hypermarkets (+0.4%).
