In December 2018, the turnover in large-scale food retailing was virtually stable after a decrease in November (−0.1% after−1.1%). Sales rebounded in food products (+1.2% after−1.1%) and in non-food products (+0.6% after−2.2%). By contrast, it decreased strongly in automotive fuel (−7.3% after −0.6%).
Turnover recovered sligthly in supermarkets (+0.7% after −1.3%) whereas it kept decreasing in hypermarkets (−0.9% after −0.9%).
In December 2018, the turnover in large-scale food retailing was virtually stable after a decrease in November (−0.1% after−1.1%). Sales rebounded in food products (+1.2% after−1.1%) and in non-food products (+0.6% after−2.2%). By contrast, it decreased strongly in automotive fuel (−7.3% after −0.6%).

Stability over the last three months
Over the last three months (October to December), the turnover in large-scale food retailing was stable compared to the previous three months. Over that period, sales were vitually stable in food products (−0.1%) as in non-food products (−0.1%). By contrast, they grew strongly in automotive fuel (+2.7%).
Turnover increased in supermarkets (+1.0%) and was vitually stable in hypermarkets (−0.1%).
Growth of 2.3% over a year
The turnover over the last quarter of 2018 in large-scale food retailing rose by 2.3% compared to the same period one year earlier. Sales in food products increased (+1.1%), whereas they decreased in non-food products (−0.9%). Sales of automotive fuel surged (+15.0%), boosted by the upturn in fuel prices between the two periods. Year on year, sales increased in supermarkets (+2.9%) and in hypermarkets (+2.1%).
