In July 2018, the prices of frequently purchased goods in hyper and supermarkets and in large and predominantly food stores barely increased over a month (+0.1%) after a stability in June.
In July 2018, the prices of frequently purchased goods in hyper and supermarkets and in large and predominantly food stores barely increased over a month (+0.1%) after a stability in June.
Excluding hyper and supermarkets, prices increased by 0.2% for the third consecutive month.
Considering all kinds of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose slightly in July (+0.1%) after a stability in the previous month.
Year on year, the prices in hyper and supermarkets rose by 0.6% as in June
Compared with the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets increased in July at the same pace as in the previous month (+0.6%). In large and predominantly food stores, prices slowed down slightly again: +0.6% year on year after +0.7% in June and +0.8% in May.
In the other kinds of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods continued to grow more sharply than in large distributors: +1.9% year on year, after +2.0% in June.
Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose by +0.9% year on year in July as in June.

Modest increase over a month in food prices in hyper and supermarkets
In July 2018, the prices of food (excluding fresh products) sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by 0.1% after a stability in June. Year on year, their rise was the same as in the previous month (+0.8%).
The slight rise in prices over a month resulted from a little rebound in the prices of beverages and a slight increase in those of other food products, whereas meat prices remained stable.
As in June, meat prices were stable in July. Year on year, they slowed down for the third consecutive month: +1.0% after +1.1% in June and +1.3% in May.
After a slight dip in June (−0.1%), the prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets recovered a little in July (+0.2%). Year on year, they were more dynamic than in the previous month (+0.5% after +0.3%).
The prices of other food products (excluding fresh food) weakly rose (+0.1%) after a stability in June. Year on year, their increase was less pronounced than in June (+0.8% after +1.0%).
Further fall in the prices of cleaning and personal care products in hyper and supermarkets
In July, the prices of cleaning and personal care products sold in hyper and supermarkets edged down (−0.1%), less sharply than in June (−0.3%). Year on year, the prices of these products decreased again: −0.6% after −0.4%.
