In February 2015, the turnover bounced back in business support activities (+0.3% after –0.8% in January). Conversely, it contracted in information and communication (–0.5% after +0.5%). It increased in real estate activities (+0.5%) and more slightly in transportation and storage (+0.2%). It remained stable in the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
Every index in this issue is in value (tax excluded), seasonally and working day adjusted (SA-WDA). The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.
In February 2015, the turnover bounced back in business support activities (+0.3% after –0.8% in January). Conversely, it contracted in information and communication (–0.5% after +0.5%). It increased in real estate activities (+0.5%) and more slightly in transportation and storage (+0.2%). It remained stable in the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

Stability in the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles
In February, the turnover of the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles was stable, as in January. It decreased in other specialised wholesale (–1.4%), in the wholesale of information and communication equipment (–4.1%) and of other machinery, equipment and supplies (–0.4%). On the contrary, it rose in the wholesale on a fee or contract basis (+1.7%), in the wholesale of household goods (+1.1%) and in non specialised wholesale trade (+1.0%).
The turnover of the wholesale trade declined over the last three months (–0.7%) and more markedly over the year (–2.1%).
Slight increase in transportation and storage
In February, the turnover of transportation and storage rose slightly (+0.2%) after a two-month-in-a-row decrease. It went up in land transport and transport via pipelines (+1.0%), in air transport (+1.7%). Conversely, it fell in water transport (–1.9%) and more moderately in warehousing and support activities for transportation (–0.4%) and in postal and courier activities (–0.5%).
The turnover of transportation and storage improved slightly over the last three months (+0.2%) and more substantially over the year (+0.6%).
Increase in real estate activities
The turnover of real estate activities rebounded in February (+0.5%) after a slight drop in January (–0.3%). It was almost steady over the last three months (+0.1%) but diminished over the year (–0.9%).

Decrease in information and communication
In February, the turnover of the information and communication sector shrank (–0.5%) after three months of growth. It went down in publishing activities (–1.7%), in motion picture, video and television programme production (–3.0%) and in programming and broadcasting activities (–3.0%). On the contrary, it rose in telecommunications (+0.6%) and in information service activities (+0.5%). It remained almost stable in computer programming, consultancy and related activities (–0.1%).
The turnover of information and communication increased over the last three months (+1.1%) as well as over the year (+1.0%).
Slight increase in business support activities
The turnover of business support activities recovered slightly in February (+0.3%) after a drop in January (–0.8%).
The turnover bounced back in professional, scientific and technical activities (+0.5%, after –1.0%), especially in architectural and engineering activities (+1.5%). The turnover in administrative and support service activities was virtually stable (+0.1%) : it went up in employment activities (+1.7%) and in rental and leasing activities (+0.9%), while it dipped in office administrative, office support and other business support activities (–1.6%).
The turnover of business support activities decreased slightly over the last three months (–0.5%) but increased over the year (+0.7%).
Revisions
The change in January was revised by +0.5 point in real estate activities. Initially calculated at –0.8%, it was revised at –0.3%.
That same month, the change was revised by +0.2 point in the wholesale trade, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles, by –0.2 point in transportation and storage and by –0.1 point in information and communication. It remained unchanged in business support activities.
