This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2013 :

  • 01/01/2025 – Volnay devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein de Val-de-la-Hune (72382) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/01/2025 – Création de la commune nouvelle de Val-de-la-Hune en lieu et place des communes de Saint-Mars-de-Locquenay (72298) et de Volnay (72382) devenues déléguées.
