This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2013 :

  • 01/01/2025 – Montbenoît devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein de Pays-de-Montbenoît (25390) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/01/2025 – Création de la commune nouvelle de Pays-de-Montbenoît en lieu et place des communes d'Hauterive-la-Fresse (25303), de La Longeville (25347), de Montbenoît (25390), de Montflovin (25398) et de Ville-du-Pont (25620) devenues déléguées.
