This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2011:

  • 01/10/2016 – Château-du-Loir devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein de Montval-sur-Loir (72071) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/10/2016 – Création de la commune nouvelle de Montval-sur-Loir en lieu et place des communes de Château-du-Loir (72071), de Montabon (72203) et de Vouvray-sur-Loir (72384) devenues déléguées.
