This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2011:

  • 15/12/2015 – Champtoceaux devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein d'Orée d'Anjou (49069) (commune nouvelle).
  • 15/12/2015 – Création de la commune nouvelle d'Orée d'Anjou en lieu et place des communes de Bouzillé (49040), de Champtoceaux (49069), de Drain (49126), de Landemont (49172), de Liré (49177), de Saint-Christophe-la-Couperie (49270), de Saint-Laurent-des-Autels (49296), de Saint-Sauveur-de-Landemont (49320) et de La Varenne (49360) devenues déléguées.
