This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2011:

  • 01/01/2017 – Étalans (commune chef-lieu) est rattachée à Étalans (25222) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/01/2017 – Création de la commune nouvelle d'Étalans en lieu et place des communes de Charbonnières-les-Sapins (25123), d'Étalans (25222) et de Verrières-du-Grosbois (25610).
