Young people neither in employment nor in education or training : up to the age of
21, fewer among women than among men
In 2019, 12.9% of young people aged 15-29 in France are neither in employment nor in education or training (NEET). Although women are more likely than men to be in this situation overall, this is only the case from the age of 22. Indeed, they are more likely to be in education before, and then inactive with the arrival of the first children. The gap between women and men has been closing since 2003. It is also lower than in the whole European Union. As for the NEET rate itself, it is slightly higher in France.
