The handbag, the flagship product of French leather goods

In 2016, within the European Union, France is the second largest producer, behind Italy, of handbags, a major leather goods and saddlery product. The balance of trade in leather goods and saddlery is in large surplus (2.3 billion euros), thanks in particular to trade with countries outside the European Union.
